Priscilla and I headed down to my grandparents' house in Llano, TX on Thursday, 11/20. We spent about 3 and a half hours on various Texas highways and backroads just enjoying the scenery, each other, and some music. Our dear friends Mike and Jennifer Henry arrived the following day. Mike and I treated the girls to a nice dinner. Mike worked his magic on the grill as he prepared steak, shrimp, and some massive portabello mushrooms. We also mixed some salad, baked some sliced sweet potatoes, and finished it off with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne (oh, and it should be noted that the girls were not allowed to cook or clean all weekend).

Even more dear friends showed up the next day; this time it was Bill and Chrissi McKown. The 6 of us threw down some quick grub and then jumped in a southbound car for Fredericksburg. Great place for a group of couples. Plenty of window shopping for the girls and plenty of great beer for the guys...and wine for all. The weather was absolutely perfect for a stroll down the main strip.

We ended that evening around the dinner table with games and laughs. Bill remained near the TV as he suffered through a thrashing put on his Red Raiders by the Boomer Sooners of Norman, OK. About midway through the 4th quarter he had to take a soak in the hot-tub to try to rid himself of the defeat. Mike and I tried to support him as best we could...but nevertheless we ended up having some great late night discussions about how our group can get more involved in serving our community.

A lazy Sunday morning arrived about 10 hours later with a huge breakfast. We had thrown around the idea of taking a hike up Enchanted Rock but we just kept talking and talking around the breakfast table. Before we knew it noon was fast approaching and it was time for everyone to part ways. And so ended a wonderfully relaxing weekend in the Texas hill country.

Personally, I can not WAIT until we go back.
