A Post Long Overdue!

I have been meaning to write a post since Thanksgiving, however, life just seems to get busier and busier. So since it has been so long I have decided to give you a brief summary of what we have been up to the past few weeks.

We started our Thanksgiving week by attending Ethan's Thanksgiving Feast at his school. He got to be a pilgrim and he enjoyed some good food and made a turkey out of a toilet paper roll and fruit loops. We then spent Thanksgiving day at my parents' house. This is the second year that Mom has hosted Thanksgiving. Mom enjoys doing it and she does a great job.
Next was an overnight camping trip for Aaron and Ethan. Ethan loves to camp and had been asking Aaron for months to take him. We have some friends whose family has a house at Lake Tawakoni and Aaron and Ethan were invited to camp out in the backyard. This ended up being the best thing since it rained most of the day. They had access to the house so they could wait out the rain if needed. Ethan got to spend some time with his friends, Emily and Paige. They enjoyed some fishing and ate some banana boats around the campfire.

We ended the weekend with decorating the house for Christmas and attempting to decorate a gingerbread house for the first time. We try to find teachable moments as much as possible so we used building the gingerbread house to talk about the following verse. "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchmen keeps awake in vain." Psalm 127:1 Ethan seemed to really have fun building the house and hopefully we planted a tiny seed of knowledge that we can build on later.
