Starting Kindergarten

Ethan hit a new milestone this week. He has started his career in school with Kindergarten of course! This has been a very exciting time for our family so we decided to start some back to school traditions as we prepared for the big day.

We are trying to get back into the habit of doing our family devotionals so we started with a story about Abraham from Ethan's Read and Learn Bible. In this story it talks about how Abraham believed in God and God blessed him. God told Abraham "Leave your country and go to the land I will show you. I will make your name great. All peoples on the earth will be blessed through you." The story goes on to say that Abraham obeyed God and left his homeland with his family and went from place to place with all their belongings. We used Abraham's example to show Ethan that he could be a blessing to others while he is at school. We talked about some ways that we could bless others and then like Abraham who prepared his belongings for his trip we did some preparations for school the next day.

We spent the rest of the day hanging out together which included making cupcakes for our special snack after school and then making sure we got to bed early.

Ethan was very excited all day Sunday and even Monday morning before school. He had new clothes, new backpack, new lunchbox, and even a new hair cut. Here are few pics that we took before we headed to school.

Ethan did not start getting nervous until we actually arrived at his school. He walked a little slow and stayed behind Aaron and I the whole time. He walked into his classroom willingly but he looked very scared. He put his backpack up and then found his seat. Aaron and I said our goodbyes and wished him good luck and then this is how we left him.So sad :(

Needless to say by the time I picked him up he was very happy. He went on and on about his day. He said they didn't get to play because they had too much work to do. He loved playground time of course. He said he had a good day and was ready to go back. It was so relieving to hear how much fun he had. We ended his first day of school with his favorite meal that he chose. Chicken and rice casserole with lots of bread!Love that smile!
