Vacation Part 1

We just got back from a week long vacation in the Texas Hill Country. Although we didn't go very far from home this was our first real vacation since adding Kate to our family. Aaron and I had to learn how to be flexible and let the kids be kids and lead us on this trip. That saying that you need a vacation to recover from your vacation was very true for us. However, it was a great experience and we all had a fabulous time.
All packed in and ready to hit the road.
We started our trip and we were headed to Sea World in San Antonio for a few days. Aaron and I had decided that we were not in a hurry so we made a pitstop in Austin and some how found our way to Barton Springs Park. We have been to this park before with Aaron's Aunt and Uncle who live in Austin so we were very excited to find it. We had an impromtu picnic right on the water and then walked down to the playground so the kids could play for a bit before we headed on to San Antonio.
We arrived at our hotel around 3pm, checked in and got settled, and then decided to head to Sea World for a couple of hours before dinner. We decided to start with a show called "Believe" which is the famous Shamu show. It was cool to see the Killer Whales but I have to admit it was not our favorite show. After seeing a few more attractions we left for dinner and then headed back to the hotel to rest. Wednesday, we spent the majority of the day at Sea World going from show to show with a few rides in between. Ethan's favorite ride was the kiddie Shamu roller coaster. Go figure, we learned Ethan loves the small things in life on this trip. His favorite part of our trip was staying in the hotel and swimming in the hotel pool. We could have done that in Rockwall! Ha! We ended our day at the Lost Lagoon Waterpark that is inside Sea World. The kids loved this the best, they could have spent hours and hours in the wave pool and the lazy river.

Kate and I on the log ride, she was scared too death but I think she liked it a little bit.

Bye, Bye Sea World.

On our last day in San Antonio we went back to the waterpark to let Ethan and Kate swim for a few hours before heading out. We had a good time at Sea World and we may even return again next year since we have season passes. Our next stop is Llano for Aaron's family gathering. Stay tuned.
